DIDACTIC PROPOSALS FOR SCHOOLCHILDREN, KIDS AND FAMILIES

Presentation

Writing a letter, putting it inside an envelope, putting a stamp on it, writing the address and putting it in a mailbox to send it on its journey, receiving it, opening it and answering it are activities that are disappearing from our daily lives, but they have been a historical constant that has evolved over time and cultures.

The material evidence of this evolution forms the digitalized collection of the Postal Museum Andorra.

Learning about the cultural aspects of the post, the uniqueness of the philatelic world in Andorra and about stamps as an art form are the key points of the message that the Postal Museum wishes to transmit and they are the starting point of the didactic activities presented in this dossier.

Didactic objectives

  • Discover the heritage of stamps by working on postal history and the philatelic collection, using stamps as a source of historical and artistic information etc.

  • Communication: this is the common thread of the Postal Museum of Andorra and the theme that is developed in the proposed activities.
  • Use of didactic, creative, sensorial and fun resources to give pupils a better understanding of the nature of the postal system, and to allow them to examine its evolution over time and space according to socio-cultural, political, economic, geographical, technological factors, etc.
  • Learning what a letter, a stamp, mail, the postal system etc. are.
  • Discovering the different types of letter: the letter as an accompaniment to the sending of material and documents, the letter as a scientific document, the letter as a historical source etc.
